Muslims across Northern Nigeria on Saturday joined the global Ummah in solemnly observing the birth of the Prophet Muhammad in a series of spiritual, educational, and charitable events held throughout the states.
The occasion, known as Mawlid an Nabiy, was marked with deep reverence and gratitude for the life and teachings of the Prophet, which continue to guide and inspire millions around the world.

In mosques, Islamic centers, and public spaces, faithful gatherings were held featuring recitations from the Holy Qur’an, devotional poetry QASIDA, and sermons highlighting the Prophet’s exemplary character, his compassion, patience, justice, and dedication to peace. Scholars and Imams used the opportunity to remind attendees of the core messages of Islam.
In Kano and Potiskum of Yobe State, a large public gathering was organized at the Central Mosque, where religious leaders delivered talks focusing on the relevance of the Prophet teachings in contemporary society.
Similar events took place in local government areas such as Nasarawa, Kano municipal, Nguru, and Nangere, reflecting the widespread observance of the day across the state.

Beyond religious ceremonies, many communities embraced the spirit of Mawlid by engaging in acts of charity and communal support. Distribution of food, clothing, and financial assistance to orphans, widows, and vulnerable families was reported in several areas, embodying the Prophet tradition of generosity and care for the less fortunate.
The peaceful and reflective commemoration emphasized unity, moral renewal, and a shared commitment to upholding the values propagated by the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. The event concluded with prayers for continued peace, prosperity, and guidance for the people of Nigeria as a whole.
