Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on Thursday, November 27, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, where both leaders discussed issues of regional cooperation, security and national development.
In a post on his official Facebook page on Friday, Soludo said the President received him warmly and congratulated him on his re-election in the just-concluded Anambra governorship election, describing the victory as a reflection of the confidence Ndi Anambra have in his leadership.
Soludo wrote: “Yesterday, I paid a courtesy visit to my dear friend and brother of over 22 years, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the State House, Abuja. Mr. President received me with his usual warmth, big smile, and open arms. He personally congratulated me on the resounding mandate given to me by the good people of Anambra State in the just-concluded governorship election.”
He expressed gratitude for the President’s immediate congratulatory message following his victory and for his continued support to Anambra State.
Both leaders, according to Soludo, emphasised the importance of deeper regional cooperation, institutional reforms and people-centred policies in building a safer, more prosperous and united Nigeria.
“We are one Nigeria, and together — with God on our side — we will build the Anambra and the Nigeria of our dreams,” he said.
Meanwhile, earlier on Wednesday, Soludo joined other governors and traditional rulers from Southern Nigeria in Iperu, Ogun State, to unveil a comprehensive regional blueprint aimed at tackling security challenges and deepening cooperation in economic resilience and governance.
In a press statement issued on Friday by Soludo’s Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, the joint meeting of the Southern Governors’ Forum and the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council adopted a multi-pronged strategy to strengthen stability and development across the region.
Aburime said Soludo, who is Vice Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, actively participated in the deliberations and reaffirmed Anambra State’s commitment to the collective regional agenda.
A major outcome of the meeting was a collective vote of confidence in President Tinubu, with the leaders acknowledging his leadership and commitment to national stability and economic reforms.
To address persistent security threats, the forum resolved to establish a zonal security fund to finance coordinated inter-state operations, enhance intelligence sharing among security agencies, and sustain advocacy for the creation of state police.
Other resolutions include the implementation of a harmonised resident identification programme to aid security and planning, strengthening existing regional security outfits, and improving inter-state collaboration.
On economic governance, the leaders committed to tackling illegal resource exploitation through stronger land and mining regulations to promote sustainable practices. They also pledged greater institutional support for traditional councils as key partners in conflict resolution, grassroots mobilisation and governance.
Aburime added that the meeting reaffirmed Southern Nigeria’s resolve to speak with one voice on national issues and to work constructively with the Federal Government for national progress.
