Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the Kaduna State Government has approved the installment of Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli as the new Emir of Zazzau. The announcement was made after a meeting with the Zazzau Council of Chiefs.
Jafaru Sani, the Commissioner of Local Government Affairs also announced the appointment of the 19th Emir of Zazzau. He succeeds the Emir Shehu Idris, one of the longest-serving emirs, who passed on September 20, 2020, after a 45-year reign on the Zazzau throne.
Ahmed Nuhu Bamali is the first emir from the Mallawa ruling house
in 100 years. His grandfather Emir Dan Sidi was the last person from the Mallawa House to sit on the throne.
Bamalli was a chief, the Magajin Garin Zazzau, and the former Ambassador of Nigeria to Thailand, and Myanmar before ascending the throne of his fathers. He had also been a commissioner in the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission in 2015 and had served as an Executive Director, and Managing Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting
Bamalli also worked at the Abuja Metropolitan Management Agency before
working as the Head of Human Resources at MTEL, the mobile telecommunication arm of the privatised Nigerian Telecommunication Limited (NITEL).
