Television Continental, popularly known as TVC News, a Nigerian 24-hour television news channel, which is owned by Continental Broadcasting Service Nigeria Ltd, and linked to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former governor of Lagos State, who is a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). was razed by fire. Other places visited by fire include the Nigeria Ports Authority in Marina, some police stations in Oshodi Motorists, and the governor’s mother’s house.
The fire at the TVC started this morning and it has burnt down three studios. The station was declared unavailable.
Staff of the private television station on Ikosi Road, Lagos, have however, cried for help as hoodlums have reportedly set the station ablaze. Personal belongings of staff members were also burnt.
According to Alkasim Abdulkadir, a Communications Expert in his tweet said, ‘watching TVC, the anchors frantically said there were thugs at their gate trying to break into the premises.’
He further said, ‘The station is off air at the moment.’
It was made known that, parts of the stations is already up in flames while journalists and other workers on night and early morning duties are currently trapped.
One of the reporters said, ‘Cars within the compound are said to be on fire and parts of the station in flames. Our popular morning programme “Your View” that was ongoing before the attack is already off air. Please pray for our colleagues who are trapped and taking cover in the compound.’
