In a groundbreaking move, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Daimlas Corporation, a global leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation, to establish a comprehensive AI ecosystem across Nigerian universities.
This strategic partnership aims to empower academic institutions with cutting-edge AI resources, research opportunities, and a platform for AI-driven education. The collaboration is expected to revolutionize the country’s education sector, preparing graduates for an AI-driven future.
Executive Secretary of NUC, Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that the Commission is ready to embrace the initiative and make it a success.
“We are happy to be established already in many institutions that are well-known around the world,” he added.
According to Joseph Wehbe, CEO of Daimlas Corporation, the organization has already established five AI ecosystems globally, with two more in Nigeria in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Innovation. The platform will provide Nigerian universities with access to global AI corridors, facilitating collaboration and knowledge sharing.Wehbe emphasized the importance of preparing graduates for an AI-driven future, where entry-level jobs are being replaced by AI.
“Universities must adapt to this new reality and provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an AI economy,” he said.
The partnership between NUC and Daimlas Corporation marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s journey towards becoming a hub for AI innovation and education.
