An aide to Senate President Godswill Akpabio has dismissed reports circulating on social media suggesting that the Senate President is unwell.
Mr Kenny Okolugbo, Consultant on Communications and Strategy to Akpabio, described the claims as false and unfounded during an interview on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Thursday.
“The Senate President is very healthy and actively discharging his duties. He has been attending sessions, and that should put the rumors to rest,” Okolugbo said.
He compared the claims to similar rumors previously spread about the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike, which were later proven false.
Okolugbo called for stricter regulation of social media platforms to curb the spread of misinformation, warning that unchecked false reporting could harm public discourse.
