Father of former Imo state deputy governor, Eze Madumere, who was kidnapped by gunmen five days ago has been set free.
Eze Henry Madumere, who is the traditional ruler of Achi Mbieri in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo state, was kidnapped on Friday on his way to a function at Iho in the Ikeduru LGA. The gunmen reportedly accosted and blocked his vehicle, shot indiscriminately into the air, before whisking him away.
However, in a statement on Wednesday through his media aide, Uche Onwuchekwa, the former deputy governor disclosed that his father had been set free by his captors in the early hours of today to much excitement. “The father of the former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere’s father, HRH, Eze Henry Anoruo Madumere, has regained freedom from his abductors. Pa Madumere who is the traditional ruler of Ezi-Mbieri Autonomous Community was released by the kidnappers in the early morning of Wednesday. He was, however, taken straight to the hospital for a medical check-up. He arrived at his home town, Achi, Ezi Mbieri Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo State. He was received with joy by his family and subjects.
