Mother of Teen Claiming Davido Paternity Disputes DNA Tests, Seeks International Supervision

The mother of a teenage girl claiming to be the biological daughter of Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has disputed the validity of previous DNA tests and alleged irregularities in past processes, stating she now intends to seek independent supervision from international authorities to establish the truth.

In a detailed statement posted on her daughter’s Instagram account on Thursday, the woman, who identified herself as Ayo Labinjoh, said the matter was not about a legal or financial battle, but rather her daughter’s quest for clarity about her own identity.

Labinjoh claimed the renewed public attention surrounding the paternity dispute had caused severe emotional distress to the teenager, who she said has endured years of bullying and psychological challenges linked to the uncertainty over her parentage.

According to Labinjoh, her daughter, who goes by the name Anu Adeleke on social media, fainted on multiple occasions at school and has undergone psychotherapy as a result of the prolonged public scrutiny and emotional toll. She insisted that the teenager’s request for a DNA test stemmed from a genuine desire to know her father, and was not motivated by financial gain or a bid for public attention.

The statement accompanied a screen recording which Labinjoh said captured a private conversation between Anu and Davido. In the messages, the singer was shown denying paternity and stating that DNA tests had already been conducted. During the exchange, Anu reportedly asked Davido to provide the results of five DNA tests he claimed had been carried out.

Davido allegedly responded that he would publish the results publicly, both online and in newspapers, and warned that he would take legal action against the girl’s mother. Labinjoh described the language used by the singer in the conversation as abusive and accused him of bullying her daughter.

She further alleged that the teenager had been misrepresented in public discourse, and that previous DNA processes had been mishandled. According to her account, a blood sample collected from Anu in 2014 was discarded without being tested, and the result later presented to them was falsified. She also claimed that individuals involved in the process had misrepresented themselves and distorted the outcome.

Labinjoh stated that she now intends to request an independently supervised DNA test and suggested that international authorities could be involved, citing Davido’s American citizenship. She said such involvement would ensure that any future test is conducted fairly and without interference from either party.

The paternity controversy has persisted for several years. In January 2025, Prince Bobo Ajudua, Davido’s former lawyer, publicly addressed the claims in an Instagram comment. He stated that DNA tests had been conducted at two reputable facilities, including one chosen by the girl’s family, and that the results showed Davido was not the father. He described the continued public claims as unfair to both the Adeleke family and the child involved.

Davido himself reiterated his position on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on January 15, 2026, stating that five DNA tests had been conducted at different facilities, all of which he said returned negative results.

The case has attracted widespread attention on social media, with divided opinions among the public. Some have called for the matter to be handled privately and with sensitivity to the teenager’s wellbeing, while others have questioned the authenticity of the claims and the motives behind them.

As of the time of filing this report, no independent DNA results have been made publicly available by either party.
