NIS Comptrollers Meet In Katsina over Challenges From Porous Borders

The Nigeria Immigration Services Comptrollers in charge of eight different locations in the North-West are currently meeting in Katsina to, among other to rejig the challenges of porous borders in the affected locations in the country and tackle the issue of human trafficking in the country.

Zainab Lawal, The Assistant Comptroller General of NIS, in charge of NIS Zone B, disclosed this, yesterday evening shortly after she arrived Katsina for the meeting.

In reiteration, it was clearly noted that, the issue of human trafficking in the country, would be discussed at full length, in the meeting.

The affected locations enlisted are, Illela, Sokoto, Jigawa, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, and Jibia special border. They all form Zone “B” of the NIS.

She noted that the meeting was meant to “strategize and rejig the service amidst the existing illegal routes in the region.”

Lawal noted that, The meeting was a zonal meeting which is usually rotational amidst the North-west of the NIS Zone B. She said, “We have been to other states in the zone and now is the turn of Jibia Special Border, but we are going to have it here in Katsina; that is why you see all my Comptrollers in the zone here.”

“Part of why we are here is because this zone has numerous borders, so we are here to strategise to know the way forward.”

However, earlier on her arrival , she commissioned the newly constructed official residence for the Katsina Command Comptroller.

In addition, she mentioned that, the comptroller in charge of each location is expected to make a presentation on how to tackle and halt the issue of illegal immigrants gaining access into the country and also put and indelible end to the activities of human traffickers in the country.

The meeting kicked off this morning Thursday, 27th January, 2022, to end tomorrow Friday, 28th January,2022.
