Zelenskyy Salutes Ukrainian 'Heroism' as Invasion Enters Fourth Year

Mohamed Garba

On the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy lauded the “absolute heroism” of Ukrainians, emphasizing the nation’s unwavering resilience in the face of ongoing aggression. In a heartfelt address, he commended citizens for their steadfastness, stating, “We have been resisting for three years. The whole world admires your courage and resilience.”

The commemoration saw an influx of international support, with European and Canadian leaders arriving in Kyiv to stand in solidarity with Ukraine. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were among those who pledged continued assistance, underscoring the global community’s commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty.

Amid the ceremonies, discussions between Ukraine and the United States progressed regarding a partnership on rare earth minerals. President Zelenskyy emphasized that wartime assistance should not be construed as debt, highlighting the importance of equitable agreements that respect Ukraine’s contributions and sacrifices.

The anniversary also served as a reminder of the ongoing challenges, with reports of increased military activity in eastern Ukraine. Despite these adversities, the unity and determination of the Ukrainian people remain evident, as they continue to defend their homeland and strive for peace.

As the conflict enters its fourth year, Ukraine’s leadership and citizens alike remain resolute, drawing strength from both domestic resilience and international support.
