In a bid to alleviate the hardship faced by residents during Ramadan, Minister of State for Defense, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has distributed N500 million to 2,800 individuals in Zamfara. The beneficiaries, mostly members of the APC, party stakeholders, and leaders, received N250,000 each.

According to Ibrahim Maigandi Danmaliki, Special Adviser on Politics to the Defense Minister, the decision to provide monetary assistance was taken because other politicians in the state had already distributed food items. Maigandi explained that money is essential for preparing meals, making it a crucial aspect of Ramadan support.

He stated that twenty-four other political loyalists have been selected from across the six local government areas of the west zone, which include Talata Mafara, Bakura, Maradun, Anka, Bukkuyum, and Gummi. Each of these individuals will receive 250,000 naira.

“When you are given grains, the next thing you would need is money because nothing could be prepared without the use of money, this is the main reason, my boss saw it very important to distribute money at this moment in Ramadan,” Maigandi explained.

The distribution is part of the government’s efforts to cushion the effects of economic hardship during the holy month of Ramadan. Zamfara State has also launched other initiatives, including the distribution of 180,000 bags of foodstuffs to the poor.
