The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) announced a substantial revenue generation of ₦743 million for the month of February 2025, reflecting its intensified efforts in curbing smuggling activities across the nation.
In a recent press briefing, the NCS highlighted that this impressive revenue figure is a direct result of enhanced surveillance and enforcement measures implemented at various border points. The agency’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s economy has led to the interception of numerous contraband goods, thereby disrupting illicit trade networks.
Among the seized items were large consignments of prohibited textiles, foreign rice, and counterfeit pharmaceuticals, all intended for illegal distribution within the country. These operations not only protect local industries but also ensure the health and safety of Nigerian consumers by preventing the circulation of substandard products.
The Comptroller-General of Customs reiterated the agency’s dedication to sustaining these efforts, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with other security agencies and the general public. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, reinforcing that collective responsibility is crucial in the fight against smuggling.
