Oyo State Fire Services on Sunday rescued a man of about 68 years old from a deep well at Oke- Ado, area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

General Manager of the State Fire Services Agency, Akinyemi Akinyinka, who confirmed the incident in Ibadan, said a distress call was made at around 6am that someone fell into a well at Mobolorunduro Mosque, No.30 Ajeigbe Street, Molefalafia.

Akinyinka said fire personnel led by ACFS Adedeji (Mrs) were promptly deployed to the scene of the incident. On getting there, it was discovered that the man was trapped inside a deep well while he was trying to recover his lost phone in the well. The firemen swiftly swung into action, observing precautionary measures. The man was rescued and handed over to his family for proper care.

The agency advised the public to desist from any activity capable of endangering their lives, while reiterating its commitment to securing the lives and properties of citizens of the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform, Adebayo Akiinwande, also confirmed the incident, saying it happened in the early hours of Sunday at the said location.
