The Oyo State government has officially unveiled its pioneer female football team, Pacesetter Queens Football Club, marking a significant milestone in the development of women’s sports in the state.
The unveiling ceremony, held in Ibadan, featured the presentation of the club’s technical crew, logo, and jerseys by the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Miss Wasilat Adegoke, who emphasized the government’s commitment to nurturing female football.
According to Miss Adegoke, the creation of Pacesetter Queens aligns with the vision of the Oyo State government to empower women in sports and provide them with opportunities for growth and excellence.
She said:
“His Excellency’s dedication to empowering female athletes through financial backing and goodwill has made this milestone possible.”
In his acceptance speech, the club’s Head Coach, Akinwumi Obajinmi, pledged to build a competitive, confident, and committed team capable of achieving success at both national and international levels.



The event was graced by prominent figures, including the Chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, Oba James Odeniran, ex-international football star Mutiu Adepoju, and senior officials of the Ministry of Youths and Sports.
