President Bola Tinubu has honoured Nigeria’s victorious Super Falcons with national awards, cash gifts, and real estate allocations following their triumphant outing at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
In a ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on each of the 24 players and the 11-man technical crew of the Super Falcons.
Additionally, the President gifted each team member a three-bedroom apartment at the Renewed Hope Estate in Abuja.
As part of the rewards, President Tinubu also approved a cash award equivalent to $100,000 for each player and $50,000 for each technical crew member, recognizing their hard work, dedication, and patriotic service to the nation.
The team’s reward package was further boosted by the Nigerian Governors Forum, which contributed ₦10 million to each team member in a joint gesture of appreciation from state leaders across the federation.
Nigeria’s victory in the 2024 WAFCON, sealed by a dramatic 3–2 win over hosts Morocco, earned widespread national celebration and rekindled the country’s pride in women’s football.
The recognition and rewards mark one of the most generous acknowledgements of sporting excellence in recent Nigerian history, underlining the administration’s pledge to support and celebrate excellence in sports.
