President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS). His appointment, which takes effect from August 14, 2025, was announced on Wednesday by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).
In a statement signed by the Board’s Secretary, Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), the appointment follows the imminent retirement of the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, who will bow out of service on August 13 upon attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.
The CDCFIB described Adeyemi as a seasoned officer with “a wealth of experience,” having risen through the ranks since transferring from the FCT Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service. He most recently served as Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources at the Service headquarters.
“In the course of his career, the Officer has attended and successfully completed all mandatory in-service trainings, command courses, and several other professional development programmes both within and outside the country,” the statement added.
Adeyemi is a member and fellow of several professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.
The Board expressed its gratitude to the outgoing Controller-General for his “remarkable contributions to the development of the Federal Fire Service” and commended his dedication to improving fire safety standards and spearheading numerous initiatives during his tenure.
