The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will begin across the country on Monday, August 18.
In a public notice shared on INEC’s official X handle on Friday, the Commission said eligible Nigerians can start with online pre-registration via its portal: cvr.inecnigeria.org.
Physical registration is scheduled to follow on Monday, August 25. According to the Commission, the exercise will hold at all Local Government Area offices and designated centres nationwide.
Registration will run on weekdays, from 9am to 3pm.
“This exercise is for Nigerians who have attained voting age or those who were unable to register in previous exercises,” INEC said.
The Commission encouraged citizens to use either the online or physical option, stressing that both are open.
“We encourage all eligible citizens to either begin the process online or visit our offices and designated centres once the physical registration begins,” the statement added.
INEC clarified that the exercise is not just for fresh registrants.
“It also accommodates requests for transfer of registration, replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, and correction of personal information such as names and dates of birth.”
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and voter access.
“Our goal is to ensure every eligible Nigerian has the opportunity to exercise their civic right. We are working to make the voter registration process accessible, transparent, and inclusive,” the Commission stated.
The 2025 CVR exercise is part of preparations for upcoming off-cycle and general elections. The Commission urged all Nigerians who are yet to register or update their information to take advantage of this window.
