The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has suspended four senior officers for alleged gross misconduct in the discharge of their duties.
The decision, announced in a statement issued to journalists on Friday by the commission’s Public Relations Officer, Saleh Umar, followed resolutions reached during the commission’s plenary session as part of efforts to sanitise the state civil service.
The affected officers include:
Garba Hussaini, Director of Education and former Provost;
Haruna Umar, Deputy Director, Administration and Human Resources;
Umar Yusuf, Chief Executive Officer (Accounts) – Bursar; and
Mohammed Usman, Chief Clerical Officer – Cashier.
All four are attached to the Bill and Melinda Gates College of Health Sciences Technology, Ningi, in Ningi Local Government Area.
According to the statement, the officers have been interdicted and placed on 50 per cent salaries with effect from October 28, 2025, pending the conclusion of a full investigation.
Umar noted that the sanctions were based on alleged violations of Bauchi State Public Service Regulations 0327 (x) and (xxii), while the interdiction was carried out under Rules 0329 (i), (ii), and (iii) to remove the officers from their duty posts and ensure a smooth investigation.
In a separate development, the commission approved the promotion of 21 officers to various next-grade positions, including Deputy Chief Librarian, Assistant Chief Librarians, Principal Librarians on grade levels 15, 14, 13, 12, and 10; as well as Assistant Chief Executive Officer and Chief Confidential Secretary on grade levels 13 and 14.
The commission’s chairman, Dr Ibrahim Muhammad, reaffirmed the body’s commitment to upholding integrity, transparency, and the rule of law. He expressed concern over the disregard for disciplinary procedures by some civil servants and urged workers to familiarise themselves with the regulations guiding their conduct to avoid avoidable infractions.
