The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast sunshine, cloudiness and dust haze across the country from Monday to Wednesday, according to its weather outlook released on Sunday.
For Monday, NiMet predicted sunny skies over the northern region throughout the day, while the central region is expected to experience sunshine with patches of clouds.
In the southern region, the agency projected a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine, with slim chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Cross River in the afternoon to evening.
On Tuesday, NiMet said dust haze is expected over Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Borno and Yobe throughout the forecast period. The central region is expected to record sunny skies with cloud patches.
For the southern region, cloudy skies are anticipated in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms later in the day over parts of Delta, Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River.
By Wednesday, the agency predicted dust haze across the northern region throughout the day, while the central region will experience a sunny and hazy atmosphere.
In the southern region, cloudy conditions are expected in the morning, followed by isolated thunderstorms with moderate rainfall over parts of Lagos, Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers later in the day.
NiMet advised motorists to drive with caution during rainfall and urged the public to take necessary precautions as dust particles will be in suspension over the northern region.
The agency also warned people with asthma and other respiratory conditions to be mindful of the prevailing weather.
It further advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective flight planning.
