The command also reported significant recoveries, including 88 firearms, 20 magazines, 435 rounds of ammunition and cartridges, as well as N2 million in cash. A major highlight of the operations was the rescue of 33 trafficked or stolen children.
In the area of gender-based violence, CP Isa confirmed that 30 suspects involved in defilement and rape cases have been prosecuted and remanded in custody.
“Our sustained operational efforts have contributed significantly to reducing incidents of armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, defilement, child trafficking, unlawful possession of firearms, and other violent and property crimes,” he added.
Other recovered items include vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles, bags of substances suspected to be Cannabis sativa, illicit drugs, mobile phones, laptops, weapons, and assorted charms.
The Commissioner also noted the command’s compliance with the directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from unauthorized duties with Very Important Persons (VIPs) across the state.
Looking ahead, CP Isa reassured residents that covert and overt security strategies have been deployed to ensure safety before, during, and after the Yuletide season.
He emphasized that security remains a collective responsibility and pledged the command’s continued collaboration with sister agencies and the public to maintain professionalism and sustain peace in Abia State.
