Tinubu Affirms US-Nigeria Security Ties Strategic, Deploys 7,000 Forest Guards Nationwide

President Bola Tinubu has described Nigeria’s security alliance with the United States as a strategic priority. This cooperation focuses on counterterrorism and protecting vulnerable citizens. Nigerian troops lead these operations to ensure national sovereignty remains intact.
Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, represented the President at a conference in Kano on Monday. He addressed the Centre for Islamic Civilisation and Interfaith Dialogue at Bayero University. Tinubu used the platform to advocate for religious tolerance and national cohesion.
The President urged Nigerians to reject narratives that portray the nation as religiously intolerant. He insisted that national security relies heavily on mutual respect among all citizens. Unity serves as the vital foundation for lasting peace and development.
Government efforts to combat insecurity are intensifying across the country. Over 7,000 trained forest guards now patrol critical corridors to deter criminal activity. Furthermore, the administration is pursuing community policing through constitutional state policing frameworks.
Tinubu also honoured the legacy of the late scholar Sheikh Mahmud Abubakar Gummi. He praised Gummi for promoting oneness during difficult periods in Nigeria’s history. The President promised to continue using all available resources to fight terror effectively. He remains committed to protecting the lives and property of every Nigerian.
