Kano Road Accident Claims Over 30 Lives in Gezawa

A tragic road accident in Kano State has claimed the lives of over 30 people following a fatal crash involving a trailer in Gezawa Local Government Area.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday at Kwanar Barde, along the route leading to Gujungu. According to local officials, the trailer reportedly lost control while in motion, allegedly due to reckless driving, resulting in a high-impact crash that left dozens dead and several others injured.
State authorities confirmed that many passengers who survived the Kano road crash sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals across the state.

Reacting to the incident, Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, described the accident as a devastating loss to the state. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor expressed condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased.
“This tragedy is not only painful for the affected families but for the entire people of Kano State,” the statement read.

In response to the scale of the accident, Governor Yusuf directed the Kano State Ministry of Health to provide free and adequate medical care to all injured victims. He also instructed the Office of the Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs to assess the needs of affected families and provide immediate support.
The governor further cautioned motorists, especially drivers of heavy-duty vehicles, to strictly adhere to traffic regulations to prevent avoidable loss of lives.
Emergency medical and humanitarian teams have since been deployed as Kano mourns one of its deadliest road accidents in recent times.
