Four people have been confirmed dead from COVID-19 complications in Nigeria, taking the total number of deaths from the virus to 1,123. Health authorities, revealed that, three out of every five deaths from the coronavirus in Nigeria are people that are 50 years and above. This however, shows the malignant effect of the virus on the elderly ones.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) official data, two COVID-19 deaths were recorded last week in Nigeria, making it the lowest number of deaths recorded weekly since the month of March.
A total of 113 new confirmed cases were recorded in the country as at Saturday night, bringing the total infections in the country to 61,307.
Out of the 61,307 persons infected by the virus, 56,557 have been said to have recovered, bringing to total of about 3,600 cases still active in the country.
The 113 new cases are reported from 14 states: Lagos (37), Kaduna (16), Ogun (11), Plateau (11), Taraba (8), Rivers (7), FCT (6), Enugu (4), Niger (4), Edo (3), Delta (2), Imo (2), Benue (1), Kano (1).
Lagos, Nigeria’s coronavirus main domain with over 20,000 infections and deaths of about 207, top the chart on the latest daily tally with 37 cases, while Kaduna and Ogun followed with 16 and 11 respectively.
A total of over 570,000 out of the 200 million population in Nigeria, have been tested thus far.
