Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, chieftain of the ‘All Progressive Congress’ recently released an article which engaged all the issues on the #EndSARS Protests.
The article titled, ‘The #EndSARS Protests: A Fundamental Lesson in Democratic Governance’, engaged the issues bordering on accusations that he had a hand in the shooting of the peaceful protesters at the Lekki Toll gate.
While Bola Tinubu admitted that he is an investor in media organisations, TVC and The Nation, he denied any investor affiliation with the Lekki Concession Company, investors in the Public-Private Partnership of the Lekki Toll.
Tinubu asserted that based on his democratic credentials as a protester, and a socio-political activist in the 1990’s, it was impossible for him to be part of those who would order brutal attacks on protesters at the Lekki Toll.
He noted that his political detractors were all along trying to malign his name, goodwill and progressivism.

He also noted that many of the perpetrators were his political enemies and also people who had intentions to disrupt the economic progress made in Lagos State.
Tinubu advised the Federal Government to enact State Policing, to make sure that the army is rarely deployed to matters of civil action and to investigate the matter without bias.
He however urged the #ENDSARS Protesters to dialogue with the government in order to preserve the sanctity of Nigeria’s nascent democracy.
He advised the State Government to close the Lekki Toll indefinitely or use proceeds made from the Toll to care for the injured protesters and compensate the families of the bereaved.
