A building under construction has collapsed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at Ruby’s Court Estate, behind Saint Anne’s School, Molete, in Ibadan.

The chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the collapse to newsmen in a statement on Wednesday.

Akinwande stated that the emergency was reported on Tuesday, and the agency’s personnel promptly responded to the scene.

“The emergency was reported at exactly 1:53 pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. The agency’s personnel promptly deployed to the scene of the incident, and on getting to the place, it was a storey building under construction that collapsed, trapping two male persons who were rescued. The one that sustained a serious injury was taken to a nearby hospital,” he said.

Just like Lagos, Ibadan has gradually become notorious for building collapses with several of them recorded in the brown roof city in recent times.
