Nigerian doctor, fashion creative and content creator Akin Faminu has been inducted into The Business of Fashion 500 Class of 2026 for his influence on contemporary menswear and his contribution to putting Nigerian fashion on the global stage.

 

Nigerian medical doctor, fashion creative and content creator Akin Faminu has been inducted into The Business of Fashion 500 Class of 2026. Faminu was recognised at the annual BoF 500 Gala in Paris, joining a group of 500 figures recognised for their influence in the global fashion industry.

Known for combining his medical career with his interest in fashion, Faminu has developed a distinctive presence in Nigerian menswear through his styling, digital content and fashion collaborations. According to The Business of Fashion, Faminu’s sartorial perspective and digital influence have contributed to the visibility of contemporary Nigerian menswear beyond the country.

The publication highlighted his use of sharp tailoring and statement pieces, describing him as a fashion figure who has helped put Nigerian menswear on the global radar while building a career as a fashion influencer.

Faminu marked the occasion in Paris with a custom double-breasted suit by Nigerian fashion house Deji & Kola. The deep plum suit featured padded shoulders, wide-leg trousers, velvet lapel detailing and copper and bronze leaf embroidery. He completed the look with a velvet shirt, gold-framed tinted sunglasses, a statement ring and black dress shoes.

Reacting to the recognition, Faminu expressed gratitude to God, his family, friends and supporters who had contributed to his journey. He described the induction as a major achievement and said the recognition was a shared win for those who had supported his work.

The BoF 500 induction adds another international milestone to Faminu’s career, following his growing visibility as a Nigerian fashion creative and advocate for contemporary African menswear.
