Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, on Monday, December 1, approved the payment of a 13th-month salary bonus to workers in the state civil service ahead of the Christmas season.
The governor made the announcement via his verified social media handles, directing the State Accountant-General to immediately commence disbursement of the bonus to eligible workers.
“I have directed the Accountant General to pay the 13th-month Eno-mber salary before Christmas, so our workers can celebrate with ease. Happy New Month,” Eno wrote.
The 13th-month salary, commonly paid at the end of the year, is an additional allowance usually equivalent to one month’s basic salary and is meant to support workers during the festive period.
This year’s payment marks the third consecutive year Governor Eno has approved the bonus for state workers.
In December 2024, the governor also approved the implementation of the ₦80,000 minimum wage for all public servants in the state.
