The Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ali Bukar Dalori is reportedly taking over as the Acting National Chairman of the party.

A Lagos APC stalwart, Joe Igbokwe, and Lere Olayinka, spokesman of FCT Minister, Nyesome Wike, confirmed this in their respective Facebook handles.

This follows the sudden resignation of Dr Abdullahi Ganduje as National Chairman of the party.

In a move that has generated widespread reaction,Ganduje stepped aside on Friday evening, citing health reasons as grounds for his resignation.

On 3 August 2023, the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress appointed Ganduje as the National Chairman of the ruling party, following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu.

While Mr Ganduje’s resignation letter attributes his decision to health concerns, sources familiar with the matter suggest that political tension within the party may have also played a role in his decision to step down.

Allegations of financial impropriety have also been linked to his resignation, with some party members reportedly protesting “excessive financial demands” imposed by his office.

Specifically, aspiring FCT area council candidates had complained about hefty fee requirements for receiving the party’s ticket .

Ganduje’s resignation marks a significant shift in the APC’s leadership, and stakeholders are eagerly awaiting further clarification on the circumstances surrounding his departure.
