Anambra State has clinched four major awards at the 13th National Council on Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) meeting in Jos, marking another milestone in the state’s rising profile as a digital governance leader.
The event, which opened on December 8 and concludes today, held at the Crispan Suite and Event Centre (Gowon Hall), Rayfield, Jos, Plateau State, with the theme, “Accelerating Inclusive Digital Transformation: Bridging Gaps and Fostering Sustainable Growth Through Innovation.” It brought together federal and state governments, industry experts, innovators and stakeholders to review progress and shape the country’s digital future.
A major highlight was the States Innovation Peer Review Session, where states showcased their achievements in ICT-driven governance and service delivery. At the end of the presentations, Anambra emerged as one of the standout performers, winning awards for:
Best Overall Performing State in ICT Development
Best State in ICT Human Capital Development
Second Runner-Up in Infrastructure Development
Second Runner-Up in eGovernment Implementation
Receiving the awards on behalf of the state, the Managing Director/CEO of the Anambra State Information and Communication Technology Agency, Chukwuemeka Agbata, thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for providing the policy direction and support that have driven the state’s digital transformation agenda.
He said the recognition was a testament to the governor’s investment in broadband expansion, eGovernment services, governance reforms and digital literacy initiatives under his “Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere” mantra.
“This impressive performance is a validation of Mr Governor’s bold vision for a liveable, prosperous and digitally empowered Smart Mega City,” Agbata said.
This marks the second consecutive year Anambra has secured four national ICT awards at NCCIDE, after a similar performance in 2023, underscoring sustained excellence in digital governance, infrastructure development and human capital growth.
Governor Soludo, in a Facebook post on Friday, expressed delight over the awards, saying the state would continue to deepen its technology-driven reforms. “Anambra State shines again… We are not resting on our laurels,” he wrote.
The latest honour adds to the state’s growing list of digital accolades. On October 21, Punch Online reported that Anambra received two awards at the 2025 Nigeria GOVTECH Gala and Awards in Abuja. The Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning was named Best State MDA in Technology-Driven Governance, while the Bureau of Public Procurement received the Excellence in Digital Public Procurement Award.
Following that achievement, Agbata urged Anambra youths to rapidly acquire digital skills to remain competitive in the global job market, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to expanding opportunities through technology.
With its latest recognitions, Anambra continues to position itself as a model for tech-driven development, strengthened institutions and inclusive economic growth.
