Nollywood actress Annie Macaulay, the estranged wife of Afrobeats icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, has shared a series of cryptic messages on Instagram following the circulation of a video showing the singer in a public confrontation in London on Monday.
Shortly after the footage surfaced online showing 2Baba in an altercation that reportedly ended with him being escorted away by police officers, Macaulay updated her Instagram Stories on Monday with messages many social media users interpreted as subtle reactions to the unfolding controversy.
In one of the posts, the actress wrote: “Sometimes, trying to prove that you are the best is an insult.”
She also shared an illustration of burning matchsticks, with one stick pulled aside to prevent the others from catching fire. The text on the image read: “The power of stepping away.”
The timing of the posts, coming hours after the London incident, sparked widespread reactions online, with many fans drawing connections between the messages and the singer’s public confrontation.
The posts followed a tense appearance by 2Baba on media personality Daddy Freeze’s Instagram Live earlier on Monday. The live broadcast featured two of the singer’s former management associates, Kaka Igbokwe and Lori Tosan, who alleged that 2Baba’s current wife, Natasha Osawaru, was exerting undue influence over his personal and professional decisions.
As the discussion progressed, 2Baba joined the session and demanded that the pair stop discussing his private life. Moments later, viewers observed a scuffle in the background of the live video, with Osawaru appearing to restrain the singer as tensions escalated on screen.
Monday’s developments have further intensified public scrutiny of the singer’s personal life, which has remained a subject of widespread public interest over the past year. Earlier in the year, 2Baba officially confirmed his separation from Macaulay after years of a highly publicised marriage.
The music star later proposed to Osawaru in February and married her in July, marking a major turning point that continues to generate intense debate among fans and the wider public.
The circulation of the London clash video, combined with Macaulay’s social media posts, has once again reignited conversations about the personal turbulence surrounding the celebrated musician and the women connected to his life.
