The Nigerian political landscape is mourning the loss of Barrister Jesutega Onokpasa, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who reportedly passed away on Monday. The lawyer and renowned political commentator’s death was announced on Tuesday, sending shockwaves through political circles and among his numerous admirers.
The news of Onokpasa’s demise was first shared by pro-APC crusader, Okezie Atani, on his X account, who simply wrote, “We lost Barr. Jesutega Onokpasa, may his soul rest in perfect peace.”
Further tributes quickly emerged, including a heartfelt post on the Facebook page “Renewed Hope United Kingdom,” titled “A Farewell to a Passionate Advocate: Honouring Jesutega Onokpasa’s Legacy.” The tribute described Onokpasa’s passing as “a profound loss to the Nigerian political and legal landscape.”
The post highlighted his significant contributions, stating, “As a dedicated lawyer and political commentator, he was deeply engaged in shaping discourse and advocating for his beliefs.” It also acknowledged his roles as a member of the APC Publicity Committee and the APC Presidential Campaign Council in 2023, which “reflected his commitment to his party and the nation.”
