Badagry Monarch Denies Supporting Smuggling Activities

The Journal Nigeria February 10, 2025

Ola Akinwunmi

The Alapa of Egun-Awori Apa Kingdom, Oba Oyekan Adekanmi Ajose, has issued a statement distancing himself from allegations of supporting the smuggling of contrabands into Lagos through the Seme border. The monarch expressed his displeasure at a social media post claiming he was aware of impending smuggling activities in the area.

Oba Oyekan emphasized his commitment to peace and stability in Badagry, stating that he has no involvement in illicit smuggling activities.

“I am satisfied with what God has given me,” he said, adding that he will not be swayed by pleading or monetary influence to support illegality.

As a peace loving monarch in Badagry, he said he was surprised to see his name written in a story on Facebook by an online journalist indicting his royal personality of supporting smuggling in Badagry.

He said: “I have no hand in any illicit smuggling of contrabands to Lagos, I am satisfied with what God has given me.

“Anyone trying to soil the good name of Alapa of Egun-Awori Apa Kingdom should desist from such.

“I am a peace loving king and no amount of pleading or monetary influence will make me to support illegality,” he said.

The monarch warned the online journalist responsible for the post to cease mentioning his name in connection with smuggling activities, reiterating that he has no business supporting such illegal endeavors.
