Armed security personnel have taken over the Kano Emir’s Palace, restricting entry and exit.
According to reports, this development came after Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II announced plans to install a new district head of Bichi, Munir Sanusi. The move is seen as a challenge to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The situation is reportedly tense, with reports of tight security around the Bichi Emir’s Palace. The National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, has publicly backed the Bichi Emirate Council, recognizing Emir Nasiru Ado Bayero as the legitimate emir.
The deployment of security personnel to the palace is seen as an attempt to prevent Emir Sanusi from carrying out his plans. The situation remains volatile, with many calling for calm and restraint.
