Veteran broadcaster, diplomat, and elder statesman, Dr. Christopher Kolade, has passed away at the age of 92.
According to a statement released by his family on Thursday, the former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and ex-Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc died peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
“We are thankful for his incredible life of faith and service, and are grateful for God’s abundant blessings,” the family said.
Born on December 28, 1932, in Erin-Oke, Osun State, Kolade was the son of an Anglican missionary. He attended Government College, Ibadan, and later studied at Fourah Bay College, Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Dr. Kolade began his illustrious career in broadcasting and rose through the ranks to become Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC). His outstanding leadership and commitment to ethical standards later earned him the role of Chief Executive and Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, where he was widely respected for his corporate reforms and dedication to integrity in business.
Beyond the corporate world, Kolade served Nigeria as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, representing the nation with distinction and professionalism.
A passionate advocate for education and leadership development, Kolade taught Corporate Governance and Human Resources Management at the Lagos Business School, and Leadership & Conflict Management at the School of Media and Communication, both under Pan-Atlantic University.
He also served as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the university and later as Chancellor of McPherson University, Ogun State.
Kolade’s lifelong commitment to ethics and good governance was further demonstrated through his chairmanship of organisations such as Integrity Organisation Ltd GTE and The Convention on Business Integrity Ltd GTE.
Dr. Kolade leaves behind a legacy of faith, leadership, and service to humanity — a true statesman who inspired generations through his integrity, intellect, and humility.
