The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially announced the release of the results for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates.
In a statement shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, August 4, 2025, the Council informed the public that all candidates who sat for the examination can now access their results online.
“The West African Examinations Council is pleased to inform candidates who sat WASSCE for School Candidates, 2025 that the result has officially been released today, Monday, August 4, 2025,” the statement read.
Candidates are advised to visit the Council’s result portal at http://waecdirect.org to check their individual results. The process requires a WAEC result checker PIN, examination number, and other candidate-specific details.
Reactions have started pouring in across social media as students, parents, and schools express mixed emotions ranging from excitement to anxiety. A secondary school principal in Lagos, Mrs. Esther Ibeh, welcomed the development and praised WAEC for releasing the results on schedule. “We are glad the results are out early enough to enable our students plan for the next academic phase,” she said.
Meanwhile, a parent in Port Harcourt, Mr. Sunday Iroko, urged WAEC to ensure transparency in the marking process. “I hope these results truly reflect the efforts of the students. This is a crucial moment for many families,” he noted.
WAEC has not yet released the overall performance statistics, such as the pass rate, gender distribution, or subject-by-subject breakdown, but those details are expected in a follow-up briefing or official report.
The release of the 2025 WASSCE results marks an important milestone for thousands of Nigerian students, determining their eligibility for tertiary education and scholarship opportunities both within the country and abroad. Education stakeholders across West Africa will be watching closely for the full breakdown of performances as they assess the quality and consistency of the region’s secondary education system.
Further updates are expected in the coming hours.
