The lawmaker representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Yunus Akintunde, has advocated the need for all stakeholders to uphold virtues and impactful values for the upliftment of children in Nigeria’s journey towards a stronger nationhood.

Senator Akintunde made his position known in his message of celebration of this year’s Children’s Day, released through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Kunle Olatunji, and made available to The Journal Nigeria. He identified with the various challenges facing the society on managing the interest of children and the youthful population.

In the message, the Oyo Central Senator emphasized the commitments of the present administration and leadership of Nigeria towards the development and positioning of the average Nigerian child and youth for opportunities in the global community.

“As a leader who is absolutely committed towards human capacity development, while rejoicing and celebrating with the Nigerian Children and the global community on this unique occasion of this year’s Children’s Day, it is important to identify the various challenges an average Child is facing in the global community and Nigeria with no exceptions.”

“We still have so much to do in the aspect of quality child education, prompt and quality health care delivery and clean environment where water, energy and future capacity development should be critical issues of our concern and commitment to these children who undoubtedly are the future of our greater tomorrow.”

“Their dependence on us as Leaders confers greater sense of responsibility to provide direction and purposeful leadership towards their existence and we must continue to develop quality action plans and programs to meet and even surpass their expectations.”

“I am glad that the various programs of the Renewed Hope Agenda under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the rest of us will continue to focus on specific reforms and action plans where the Nigerian Children and the vast youthful population will enjoy prominence and attention.”

“Several of the various reforms such as the development of education system, school buildings and infrastructure development which we are targeted in our various empowerment and constituency projects, student loan scheme instituted by the federal government, are already yielding positive results and impact, our children and the youthful population will benefit directly from these initiatives.”

“I will continue to advocate the significance of considering the impact of government policy reforms and action plans on the children who are most vulnerable in any society while I will also advise the rest of us in different positions of leadership to be concerned about this reality as custodians of mandate and authority in our spheres of influence.”

“I also like to enjoin our children to strive towards greatness and eschew negative inclinations and vibes while parents must continue to join the other stakeholders as very significant partners in the serious commitment of child development.”

While wishing the children a great celebration, Senator Akintunde, who acknowledged his personal roles as a father, leader and stakeholder, assured of using the instrumentality of the legislature to advocate their welfare.
