Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command following an alleged assault on government officials. The incident occurred during an enforcement exercise by the Ota Zonal Office of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development at Portable’s establishment, Odogwu Bar, located in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Ota.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Odutola, Portable, accompanied by nine associates, confronted the officials who were performing their lawful duties. The confrontation escalated, resulting in the officials sustaining various injuries before they managed to escape and report the incident to the Ota Area Command. Subsequently, nine of Portable’s associates were arrested and arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Isabo, Abeokuta.
The defendants faced charges including assault, obstruction, possession of dangerous weapons, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. They pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of ₦5 million each, with sureties who are licensed bondsmen registered with the Ogun State Government.
Portable, however, remains at large. In a recent development, a video surfaced showing the singer in a church, dressed in a white garment, fervently praying for divine intervention amid his ongoing legal battle with the Ogun State government.
The Ogun State Government has strongly condemned Portable’s actions, emphasizing the importance of respecting the rule of law and the duties of public officials. The police have intensified efforts to apprehend the singer to face the charges levied against him.Portable, born on March 12, 1994, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, gained prominence with his hit single “ZaZoo Zehh,” featuring Olamide and Poco Lee. His career has been marked by both musical success and a series of controversies.
