The Dangote Refinery has shut down its petrol processing unit to address catalyst leaks and other technical issues.
According to Reuters, the refinery’s 204,000 barrels-per-day Residue Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (RFCCU) has been offline since August 29.
Although the company has not released an official statement, repairs are expected to take at least two weeks.
Commissioned in January 2024 at a cost of $20 billion, the refinery has a daily refining capacity of 650,000 barrels. It began producing petrol in September 2024, representing a major step toward reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported fuel.
