Five people were killed and at least seven others seriously wounded in a shooting attack carried out by Palestinian gunmen in northern Jerusalem on Sunday, according to Israeli paramedics and police.
Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) ambulance service said the victims included three men in their 30s, a woman in her 50s, and a man in his 50s. Nine people suffering gunshot wounds were transported to local hospitals, along with three others injured by flying glass.
Police said two assailants opened fire at a crowded bus stop at Ramot Junction, on the city’s northern outskirts. A security officer and a civilian at the scene returned fire, killing both attackers.
Although no group immediately claimed responsibility, the militant faction Hamas praised the assault.
Israeli police confirmed that large numbers of officers were deployed to the scene. Bomb disposal experts secured the area, while forensic teams began gathering evidence as investigations continued.
