A devastating kidnapping incident in Edo State has resulted in the death of Seminarian Peter Andrew, while Rev. Fr. Peter Ekweli was rescued on Thursday, according to the Edo State Police Command.

The victims were kidnapped on March 3 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Ivukwa Community, Etsako East Local Government Area. The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N100 million, which was later reduced to N10 million.

A video surfaced online, showing a kidnap victim recounting his ordeal. He claimed to have been held captive alongside the priest and seminarian, and described how he heard a gunshot and saw the seminarian struggling for his life before he died.

Police spokesperson Moses Yamu confirmed the seminarian’s death and announced that officers were searching for his body and pursuing the kidnappers.

Rev. Fr. Ekweli is currently recovering at an undisclosed hospital. The police have arrested four suspects in connection with the kidnapping and neutralized one other. The investigation is ongoing.
