Funke Akindele Takes ‘The Four’ Campaign to Markets with Umbrella, T-Shirt Distribution

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has extended the campaign for her forthcoming film, “The Four: No One Fights Alone,” to market communities, where her team distributed umbrellas and T-shirts. A video shared on Instagram showed members of Akindele’s team engaging with people in the markets and handing out umbrellas during the rainy season. According to Akindele, the community outreach began two years ago and has now become an annual initiative through which she expresses appreciation to members of market communities. “Sharing umbrellas and showing a little love to our market community is something we started two years ago, repeated last year, and this year, we did it again during the rainy season,” she wrote.

She said the exercise was intended to promote kindness, friendship and a sense of community. The activities featured the distribution of umbrellas and T-shirts, alongside dancing and other interactions with residents. Akindele also connected the initiative to the message of her new film, which centres on friendship, love, resilience and the importance of supporting others. “This season, we’re celebrating friendship, love, community and the beauty of showing up for one another,” she said.

The outreach forms part of promotional activities ahead of the nationwide cinema release of “The Four: No One Fights Alone” on December 11, 2026.

The film was produced by Funke Akindele Network and will be distributed by FilmOne Entertainment. Its cast includes Akindele, Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe and Wumi Toriola, among others. Akindele wrote, directed and produced the film, which she has described as a story about relationships, courage and the bonds that enable people to support one another.

The filmmaker’s latest outreach takes the movie’s central themes beyond its promotional materials by placing community interaction at the heart of the campaign. Through the annual initiative, Akindele and her team combined the distribution of practical items for the rainy season with publicity for the forthcoming film.

“The Four: No One Fights Alone” is expected to open in cinemas across Nigeria on December 11.
