A heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded in Isseke, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State when gunmen invaded the home of Ichie Kennedy Igboanugo, killing him and three female family members. The victims were brutally murdered in their sleep, with their lifeless bodies left on the floor of their rooms.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers seemed to have no motive, as the assault on the elderly man and his family members appeared unprovoked. The reason behind this heinous act remains unknown, leaving the community in shock and fear.
The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the incident and launched an investigation. SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, stated that the joint security team has cordoned off the area to prevent any further incidents and is working to apprehend the perpetrators. “The bodies of the victims have been recovered and deposited at the mortuary while investigations continue,” Ikenga added.
The police command is committed to solving the case, with Ikenga assuring that the command is working on some clues to arrest the perpetrators. “The joint security team has also reinforced the area for any untoward situation. Further developments shall be communicated, please,” he said.
This gruesome murder has sparked widespread condemnation, with many calling for increased security measures to protect lives and property in the state. The community is in mourning, with residents paying tribute to the victims and demanding justice.
