Residents of Idanre in Ondo State have raised concerns over the deteriorating condition of township roads in their community, calling on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to take urgent action.
Speaking under the banner of the Idanre Development Assembly (IDA), the community described the roads as deplorable and frustrating for motorists. In a statement signed by its President-General, Chief Anthony Omolola, the group noted that driving in the area had become increasingly unbearable due to the state of the roads.
The IDA expressed disappointment that, despite Idanre’s economic contributions to the state’s Internally Generated Revenue and its rich tourism appeal, the community continued to suffer neglect in terms of infrastructure development. They added that its nearness to Akure, the state capital, had yet to translate into tangible benefits for residents.
“We urge Governor Aiyedatiwa to act fast on these roads and save the people of Idanre and Ondo State at large from the daily hardship,” the statement read. “These roads are strategic to the development of the state, and continued neglect will be counterproductive.”

While decrying the neglect, the group acknowledged the ongoing phase one dualization of the Akure-Idanre road and expressed hope that the second phase would commence without delay.
The IDA also reaffirmed the community’s support for the governor’s administration and prayed for its success.
