The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, winner of the November 8, 2025 Anambra State governorship election.
Announcing the final results at the INEC headquarters in Awka on Sunday, the Returning Officer, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, said Soludo secured 422,664 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the APC, who received 99,445 votes. The Young Progressives Party candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, finished third with 37,753 votes.
Omoregie noted that 16 candidates took part in the election. Of the 2,788,864 registered voters, 598,229 were accredited, while 595,298 total votes were cast. Valid votes stood at 584,054, and 11,244 ballots were rejected.
According to INEC’s figures, Soludo delivered a sweeping victory, winning all 21 local government areas of the state.
The Returning Officer said:
“There were incidents leading to cancellations in some wards across Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka South, and Onitsha South LGAs, amounting to 10,481 affected votes. However, the margin of lead between the top candidates did not affect the overall outcome of the election.”
He added:
“Having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of valid votes, I hereby declare Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance the winner and return him elected.”
