The Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has praised May Publishing Limited, owners of The Journal Nigeria, for providing what it described as an excellent working atmosphere for its staff.
NUJ Secretary, Comrade Tunde Olalere, gave the commendation during a familiarisation visit to the company’s Magodo, Lagos headquarters. He was accompanied by the Assistant Secretary of the union, Mr. Olaide Awosanya.
Olalere noted that the organisation’s facilities and ambience reflect professionalism and a genuine commitment to staff welfare.
“We are impressed with what we have seen here today. The Journal Nigeria has set a good example for other media houses by creating an environment where journalists can work comfortably and productively. We encourage other organisations to emulate this standard,” he said.
He further welcomed The Journal Nigeria’s interest in building strong ties with the NUJ, adding:
“The partnership between the union and May Publishing will not only strengthen the profession but also contribute significantly to national development.”
Responding, the Journal Nigeria’s Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director of May Publishing Limited, Dr. Udu Yakubu, expressed appreciation for the recognition.
“We are honoured by this visit from the NUJ. It reassures us that we are on the right path. We believe in continuous interaction with the union because collaboration is essential to the growth of journalism in Nigeria,” he said.
Earlier, the General Manager of May Publishing, Mrs. Moyosore Olaofe, had welcomed the NUJ delegation and stressed the need for mutual collaboration.
“We look forward to a fruitful partnership with the NUJ. Together, we can advance the practice of journalism and raise the standard of media professionalism in the country,” she stated.

The highlight of the visit was a guided tour of the organisation’s facilities, conducted by the Managing Editor of The Journal Nigeria, Mr. Pius Nsabe.
