The Lagos State government honored eight hundred and sixty one employees of the Lagos State public service with the 2020 long service merit awards.
The employees were commended and encouraged to continue in the good works of effectively carrying out their responsibilities.
The event was held at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja.
Hakeem Muri-Okunola, the Head of Service (HOS), stated that the occasion was to celebrate public servants who had diligently served the state for 30 years upward. This was to encourage the awardees to carry on their good works.
‘The objective of the annual award ceremony, as you know, is the conscious and deliberate celebration of diligence, commitment, hard work and loyalty among public servants in Lagos State,’ the HOS said. He further stated that it was a means of ‘expressing government’s appreciation and gratitude to select members of its workforce.’

Some of the recipients being celebrated were Mr Olusina Thorpe, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and his counterpart, Mr Bamgboye Abiodun
