The Lagos State University (LASU) will reopen for academic and social activities on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, following the suspension of a strike by its workers.

The industrial action, declared on Thursday, July 31, 2025, by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Staff Unions, had forced the institution’s Senate to halt all academic and social engagements after an emergency virtual meeting on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

According to a statement signed by Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations, Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi, the decision to end the strike was reached after a meeting between LASU management and the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

The Senate, upon receiving an update from the Vice-Chancellor on the meeting’s outcome, resolved that:

All academic and social activities will resume from Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

Students are to return to hostels on the Ojo, Ikeja, and Epe campuses on the same date.

The 2024/2025 Second Semester Examinations, previously suspended, will commence on Monday, August 18, 2025.

The statement urged students to return on time and prepare adequately for their examinations.
