Born on 20 March 1985, in Lagos, Nigeria, Mary Njoku grew up with a deep passion for the arts. Determined to pursue her dreams, she went on to study English language at the Lagos State University. She also attended London Film Academy in the United Kingdom where she took a course in Movie Production.

While Mary Njoku’s acting career flourished, she recognised the need to contribute to the industry beyond her on-screen performances. In 2011, Mary created iROKtv, a YouTube page that featured interviews with Nigerian superstars, as well as Afrobeats and Nollywood events. With a visionary mindset and an entrepreneurial drive, she co-founded ROK Studios in 2013 alongside her husband, Jason Njoku. ROK Studios is a film production company dedicated to creating and distributing original African content.

Under Mary’s leadership as the CEO, ROK Studios quickly made a name for itself, producing high-quality films and TV series that resonated with audiences both locally and internationally. The studio’s commitment to telling authentic African stories, combined with Mary’s creative direction, led to the release of numerous successful productions, including “Husbands of Lagos,” “Single Ladies,” and “Breach of Trust.”

Not content with confining her success to traditional film production, Mary Njoku ventured into digital streaming platforms to widen the reach of African content. In 2016, she launched the ROK TV mobile app, providing an accessible platform for viewers to enjoy Nollywood films and TV series on their smartphones. This groundbreaking move made ROK Studios a pioneer in the digital distribution of African content, bridging the gap between Nollywood and global audiences.
