In a coordinated mission with local vigilantes, Nigerian security forces have freed six kidnap victims and retrieved herds of cattle stolen by armed bandits in Kebbi State.
According to a Tuesday statement from Abdulrahman Zagga, Director of Security at the Kebbi Cabinet Office, the rescued individuals and recovered livestock originated from Kokanawa and Ukuhu communities in Danko/Wasagu LGA.
Zagga revealed the operation was conducted under Governor Nasir Idris’s orders after receiving reports of the attack. Security forces pursued the criminals to the Zamfara River area, where they successfully liberated the captives and reclaimed the stolen cattle.
“The bandits fled during the confrontation, and all rescued persons have been safely returned to their families,” Zagga confirmed.
The security chief praised Governor Idris for his sustained support to law enforcement agencies, particularly noting the planned security base establishment would significantly enhance safety in Zuru Emirate.
He specially commended the bravery and commitment of security personnel “We deeply appreciate the Governor’s relentless efforts in tackling security threats statewide, particularly in Zuru and Argungu Emirates. Equal recognition goes to our courageous officers whose round the clock vigilance safeguards Kebbi’s communities.”
