Popular broadcaster and long-standing host of Your View, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, has officially resigned from TVC Communications after 12 years at the helm of the widely-watched all-female talk show.
The resignation was confirmed on Tuesday by Edward Akintara, Public Relations Manager for TVC Communications, who described Morayo’s exit as “the end of a transformative era” for the network and Nigerian broadcast journalism.
According to the statement, Morayo’s final appearance on the programme will be on Thursday, August 29, 2025.
“After 12 impactful years at the helm of Your View, Morayo has chosen to step down in order to fully dedicate herself to a passion project she has nurtured over the years,” the company said.
While the specifics of her next move remain undisclosed, sources close to the broadcaster hinted at her interest in advocacy and civic engagement—fields she frequently championed on-air.
Morayo, who also served as Managing Director of TVC Entertainment, was instrumental in building Your View into one of Nigeria’s most respected daytime talk shows, known for its bold conversations on politics, women’s rights, family, and social justice.
Her departure has stirred reactions across the media landscape, with colleagues, fans, and civil society actors praising her commitment to journalistic integrity and women’s empowerment.
“Morayo’s presence on Your View will be deeply missed,” the statement continued. “But the programme remains strong and committed to delivering the same quality and relevance our viewers have come to expect.”
Over the years, Your View has hosted governors, ministers, presidential candidates, activists, and everyday Nigerians, gaining a reputation for giving women a platform to engage in serious national discourse.
Morayo’s resignation also comes at a time when the Nigerian media landscape is undergoing significant changes. Only recently, Governor Baggo of Zamfara State threatened to shut down a private radio house over a critical report, raising renewed concerns about press freedom. Meanwhile, the departure of respected figures like Morayo is prompting questions about the direction of legacy media.
In a farewell message shared privately with colleagues and supporters, Morayo expressed gratitude for the “beautiful journey,” noting that she was stepping into “a new chapter filled with purpose.”
TVC has not yet announced her replacement.
Morayo Afolabi-Brown began her career in broadcast journalism in the early 2000s and quickly rose through the ranks. Her work on Your View over the last decade turned her into a household name, especially among women and young viewers seeking relatable and thought-provoking conversations. Her calm but firm moderating style earned praise across party lines and ideological divides.
While the station has assured fans of the show’s continuity, many observers believe Morayo’s next move could signal a deeper involvement in national advocacy or even politics—especially with renewed calls for gender balance in governance.
